Oscar Style

The red carpet is so often such a bland place devoid of any imagination whatsoever. It feels like a parade of starving clones in the same boring, predictably- "sexy" getup. So we're here to pay tribute to the awesome ladies who mixed it up a wee little bit.

I think we can all agree that Cate Blanchett killed it in Givenchy Haute Couture last night. You can usually count on Cate to wear something daring, exquisite or other-worldly, but this is one of my favorite Blanchett looks of all time.  It just shows that you don't have to be 20 years old to be experimental and wear clothes with idiosyncrisy and visual interest. She's also incredibly talented-- us Gotham Gals got to see her as Blanche DuBois in Streetcar last year and she knocked our socks off.  We seriously love this woman.

Sunrise Coigney in Jean Paul Gaultier. This whole look is so gorgeous and sexy without being cheap or typical. She looks like an updated version of a 1920's vamp. Love the platforms, hair, understated makeup.

This woman is awesome and can do no wrong by me. I love that she doesn't adhere to trends or expectations of what Red- Carpet style is, and she's found what works for her and sticks to it. I also love that she payed homage to costume design by having Colleen Atwood design this.
